Having a new little puppy in the house is like having an infant. Oh how quickly I am reminded why 2 (non-infant) children is a good thing. I am even more determined to win my bet with J because lets face it, I am a whip and could not handle another 9 months of pregnancy or the 18 added years that follow.
S'mores is a fabulous puppy but there is a definite learning curve for me (and maybe him as well). He is getting more use to his crate although wakes up various times throughout the night to voice his dislike for being alone. He sleeps like a rock curled up in our laps under a blanket throughout the day. Duh, who doesn't like a warm cozy spot to sleep? I am getting up about 2 times a night to take him out to go potty. Does he go potty every time...no. Will I continue this for a bit longer...yes. Why? Well because its a process and nothing happens over night. He is doing extremely well with potty training (better than Animal if you want to know the truth). He has had only 2 pee accidents since coming home Saturday. The other, well its definitely a work in progress. I don't know if I need to stand outside in the 40 mph freezing wind longer or if he is just not keen on crapping in the yard. We must figure this out soon, very soon.
The boys are finding their own ways of interacting with S'mores. Q-tip enjoys cuddling with him but Animal doesn't really have the lap or patience for such things. On the other hand he loves to play ball and with S'mores toys. Animal and S'mores play a great game of chase around the house too, it is so cute.
Playing outside before the cold and wind that arrived yesterday.
"Here S'mores, have some more wood."
S'mores looks on so ready to chase down his little friend.

The getting up in the middle ofthe night will end as he gets bigger. As for him being lonely, try putting him a stuffed animal, puppy friendly and this may help a little. He is so cute! I never gave much thought about this breed, but he is adorable!
Awwwww I got Maggie a stuffed animal about the same size as her that looked like it wouldn't fall fall apart or have anything she could chew off too easily. She still sleeps with it most nights. I don't know if it really helps or not... Also, you do want to take him out to go potty, but eventually (not yet) you will need to make him just wait. He will learn to calm down and probably go back to sleep for a bit.
He is so much smaller than he looks in pictures!!!! SOOOO cute! I love his floppy ears!
(I was going to say something else...but I can't remember.)
