When We Can

I think it is very important to do what you can for others and the community. When I get a random donation envelope from St. Judes I always try to send in a few bucks. I can always use the address labels. When a yellow bag from the Veterans Charities arrives in the post I take that as a perfect time to declutter and downsize. We also still have our sponsor child through Plan USA. But I think when possible it is good to do more. What may seem like almost nothing to you can make a huge difference to someone in need.

On Monday Chilis gave all their profits to St. Judes. That to me is a total win/win. We get yummy food to eat and St. Judes gets funding for research and children. The boys enjoyed that very much. Then today the boys and I participated in a walk for breast cancer awareness, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Brilliant! This was our first walk ever and I really enjoyed it. Animal was in his stroller, Q-tip was trekking next to me and I was sweating like crazy. Las Vegas is warm yo! Yes, even in October.

I was amazed by how many people came to the walk. I had no idea what to expect but it was really neat.

There must have been thousands of people!

I was extremely amused by the pink "port-a-jane".

Q-tip and I put on our pink and showed our support.

We walked with my friend Nicole who's mom is a breast cancer survivor. Gives the walk even more meaning when it affects someone you know.

I hope to take the boys to do more things like this. I think they have purpose and are a great way to show your support for others and our community. If I can teach the boys one thing, its to support others because not everyone is as lucky as they are.

PBS is having a Keeping Kids Fit walk next week that I am seriously debating taking the kids on as well.
